Labour says National Service idea offers the wrong solution

Neil Duncan-Jordan, Labour’s candidate for Labour Poole has said the Conservative plan to reintroduce National Service offers the wrong solution to the problems it identifies.

Mr Duncan-Jordan said: “Our young people need to feel like they’re part of society and that means providing them with decent jobs, affordable housing and a sense of security. Many young people, including my own children have huge debts before they’ve even got a job. Rents in Poole are the highest in the country relative to wages and now the Conservatives want this generation to start helping out the NHS. That’s not the answer. We have to listen to the concerns of young people rather than tell them what to do. They’re our future and we need to invest in them.”
