Unemployment rises to highest for nearly a year

The Office for National Statistics has released the latest figures showing a 4.3% increase in unemployment between January and March. A reducing number of vacancies means that more people are now competing for the same jobs.

Neil Duncan-Jordan, Labour’s candidate for Poole said: “Labour’s New Deal for working people aims to create more and better jobs that are closer to home, so that people have greater opportunities to balance work and family life. We will also end insecurity in the workplace by scrapping fire and rehire and zero-hour contracts.”

Neil is planning a series of workplace visits over the coming months where he will be talking to employers, employees and their trade unions about what a Labour MP for Poole can achieve.
